Unfortunately, Nell is back into hospital for 3rd time this month, though it is not the kidney stones this time but a blockage in one of the waste pipes and she is unable to pass faeces into the illeostomy bag.

This is more serious than it sounds because septicaemia can set in very quickly, so I ordered up an ambulance very early Sunday morning.

The consultant is hopeful that keeping Nell sedated with morphine and pumping lots of fluids into her, should loosen the impacted faeces.

If this works then it will be 3/4 days in; if it does not work and a major operation has to be done, then we are looking at 14+ days.

The 'joy of Crohn's Disease', it slowly destroys your body but does not directly kill you - Nell was diagnosed 36 years ago.

Hope it's the easier option for Nell. Have nursed people with this - it certainly is a b----r.

Appears to have worked, she says that she will be home this afternoon as long as lunch goes through OK.

It also appears that she will have to go to Kingsmill Hospital in future, if there is to be any major ops. I was under the impression that you went to the nearest emergency hospital rather than the one than happens to be in your County?

The East Midlands seem to operate a different policy to the rest of the UK.

Hi Chris

Good to hear that Nell is getting the help she needs... I suffer with ulcerative colitis, which affects the large intestine..normally colitis will affect just part of the intestine which can be kept under control with medication or, if needs be surgery is done to remove the ulcerated part a temporary colostomy bag is fitted and then later once healed removed... me on the other hand has to be different (typical woman lol)... I have what is known as Pan Colitis which means that the whole of my colon is completely ulcerated. My condition is kept 'under control' by way of medication, but the only cure for it is to have my entire colon removed and live with a bag for the rest of my life. It is not know what causes colitis, but I personally feel that stress is a contributing factor especially since over the last 12 months it has played up somewhat due to the ongoing stress I have been under. I was diagnosed 7 years ago when I found out I was expecting my youngest daughter... she was born by emergency caesarian 6 weeks early and weighed 2lb 14oz... I wasn't able to take the medication I take now during my pregnancy for the risk, plus, it made me ill anyway so I put up with steroids during the pregnancy and for around 12 months later... one thing I am not going to let it do is beat me though... for Nell to have her condition so long, she is obviously a fighter as well and I admire her for that.

Love, hugs and Angel blessings

Kale xx

My neice in law suffers too and was very ill for a long time last year, going into this. She has the op later this month for either a temp/permanent bag. She is very philosophical about it, bless her.

Nell had her first op to put in a temporary bag in 1974, then in 1982 this was changed to permanent and she had her bowel and rectum removed.

I hope that your friend only has to have a temporary bag.

Nell is very down currently, the pain from the various different things has made it very depressing for her and she cannot see a way past the pain.

We shall take it second by second from here on.

I don't really understand NT depression, I get a thing called reactive depression which comes out as various low level illnesses and skin eruptions.

All I can do is be there when she needs me, hold her and try to accept her pain.

Shall try to take over the practical stuff.

My own physical problems are to the fore for the next few weeks and Nell is very supportive, though there is not much that either of us can do.

It feels as though the right side of my body is not quite attached to the rest of me and is very slow in reacting to things or in moving; my speech is not too good and my decision process, verbally, is very slow in relation to how it is normally.

Still working on the book and doing more storyboards and talking with Nell about the book design for the series.

Bert (Nano-sprite): "OK, I've re-routed the wiring and have isolated the lizard brain; installed new circuits and breakers on the main bus and washed the system with distilled water to remove any residue."

Oddenstein: "Good, don't forget to close the hatch when you have finished."

Bert: "Oh, yes, of course I'll leave the hatch open and let all the fluid drain away, after 3 days working on this brain..."

Oddment: "He's a bit sarky."

Oddenstein: "Yes, I found the hatch open and closed it a couple of days ago, then today I heard a lot of banging and shouting so I opened it again..."

I did the Remembrance Sunday Parade unfortunately most of the route is over cobbles and my neck cracked and I have trigeminal neuralgia on both sides of my head and face.

Not pleasant but I can work with it as long as I keep my head and neck away from all surfaces - so I shall not be sleeping.

Nell has a lot of pain from her kidney stone, the Crohns Disease is playing up and she has a severe migraine, though, hopefully, she will not need to use the Immigran injections.
