Hello Chris, Pleased that you are getting things under control, and that you are both settling into new home. Croc making must be a dangerous buisness, what with the gaping nashers, and swinging tail. best to all Taffy

Thanks Taffy, it is fine up until you put the eyes in, then all hell breaks loose, they really do not like lying around under a sewing machine - must be a bit like lying inside a scanner. Chris

The property had a probate valuation today and we found out that one of our landlords has passed away and the other landlord intends to sell the property.

To find out also that one of the landlords knew the other was going to die soon and that they would be selling, yet still to go through the pretense of telling us it was for a long let - I feel so very angry and lost.

Yes, well we shall have about 4 or 5 months for the probate to be sorted, then there will be the process of getting the property ready for sale and it is unlikely to reach a basic HIPs standard as a residential property.

As a tenanted property it could be sold, but most private buyers would be unable to get the right sort of mortgage.

Therefore it would be sold as a development property and we would have to be out before it went up for sale.

Realistically I think we have between 6 and 9 months to find somewhere else.

It took 4 years to find this place.

I don't think that we have a cat in Hell's chance of finding somewhere in Newark.

I also think that the landlord in USA knew her sister was dying before the place was rented to us, because she specified a pair of gardeners to sort the garden out and that says to me that this property has been misrepresented to us and that we have been used as cheap labour.

Local professional gardeners charge between 20 to 75 per hour depending on their expertise and knowledge.

I have been worried that we could not get any written permissions from the landlords for putting in a wheelchair ramp and now I know why.

So I am building a very large steel ramp out of scrap steel and I shall be making a list of defects for the letting agent.

Then there is seeing if I can sue the landlord for misrepresentation and seeing if I can get our joint removal expenses and punitive compensation from the landlord - I think 10,000 should cover everything.

I'm still angry, though I am tending to let my social worker do most of the talking and the letting agents are not happy with the landlord, either, because they feel that the landlord has had a separate agenda and has used the tenants as glorified caretakers.

I have yet to receive any notice from the landlord and until that happens there is nothing that I can do about it.

For myself, the cerebella atrophy appears to have gone dormant againt, though I have lost a sizable chunk of my memories and am finding crosswords and wordgames difficult to do; along with not understanding numbers at all when I am writing but I can still do it all in my head; it is when I try to write it down that it goes all haywire.

Pain levels are quite high and the arthritis is a right soandso.

Autism wise, the anxiety is very high and am coping fairly will with the paranoia; the crocs are behaving themselves and I am story-boarding volume one of The Crocodile Chronicles.

My other writing is on hold and I have had to cut back considerably on everything because I cannot concentrate too well currently.

It appears that I have been reduced to a normal human beings levels of working - most annoying - the rest will do me good.

The reactive depression is just that - reacting - and it is annoying in that I want to do things but can't get my mind to do what I want it to do.

I feel as though I am trying to manipulate my thoughts using a pair of 'waldoes' (used in the nuclear industry for manipulating fissile materials) while looking down the wrong end of a telescope.

Ah, well the night is always darkest just before dawn, things can only get better from here on.

Well we've got the Notice to Quit and it runs out at the end of April 2010.

It is a relief in a way, at least we now know where we are and now begins the long slog of preparing for another property somewhere and not necessarily in Newark.

The crocodiles are not happy, they don't like to be packed up and boxed away for weeks or months at a time; come to that Nell's teddy bears aren't happy either and as for my herd of elephants?

Major ructions in the herd are forecast for the coming months.

Box 1: kapok
Box 2: kapok
Box 3: kapok

Oddment: I didn't know we had so much kapok, where have you been hiding it?

Oddenstein: You know that old settee in the hall, well that was stuffed with the stuff, so I have been restuffing it into these boxes.

Oddment: They're a bit big, how are you going to get them out of the bungalow?

Oddenstein: I was thinking of lowering a wall and sliding them out onto our tank transporter and then raising the wall and lifting the roof a little to slide the wall under... ??? You know, to lock the wall into place... ??? Don't worry, trust me, it'll work, I tried it out on the 3 little pigs' brick house just before the wolf ate them.

A new swamp has been created and it is called "Much-Muttering-in-the-Forest".

Most of the soft toys are packed, though the screaming of the teddy bears as they were vacuum-packed was terrible and gave 'stein a headache; the crocs and elephants were boxed in normal shipping crates, though I prevented them from taking a battery pack and generator with them to run their TV, they will have to play cannasta instead - Oddenstein calls it 'canister' because they are all 'canned'.

We were going for an accessible property but were unable to sort out our finances in time, due to a large problem in my credit rating left by Orange, despite the problem having been resolved and Orange paid me compensation, they still have not expunged their records from my credit file.

So it is back to the CAB and get them to lean on Orange again.

Once that is cleared we shall be able to get a loan from the bank.

My sister is unable to help because they have just bought another property (buy-to-let) and the tenants have had to pull out, so she is having to spend capital to service the mortgage.

Oh well, this is usually the problem that we have when seeking properties that money is tight, but it is a little tighter than usual.

It is a good job that we do not smoke, drink or drive, at least we have a little spare capacity in our bank account.

Spent the day typing up an application for funding from The Regiment, doubt if we shall get it all, but even a few hundred is a few hundred less that we have to find.

As usual am waiting for a reply from RBL, put in my initial application to the Area Welfare Officer in Derby, they then inform Nottingham who then inform a local welfare officer to contact me.

I informed Derby 10 days ago, might hear from someone in a month or so because the Legion has deregistered most of its welfare people because they are ALL going on an updating course this month.

What a crazy way to run an organisation.

SSAFA is coming next week but they say that the minimum time that it will take for any money is 12 to 14 weeks.

Both organisations advertise that they are 'on the ball' for housing - grim grin.

My sister brought a soft toy crocodile back from Florida with her, very cute and cuddly and has been named 'Able' and added to the swamp. Oddenstein is impressed with the quality of the foreign stitching.
