Saw the doctor today, I have torn the ligaments of the elbows across the insides of the elbow joint.

Been prescribed a set of exercises to do to strengthen the muscles in order to relieve the strain on the ligaments.

Did them last October/November when the wheel came off my wheelchair; but the pain has never gone, so thought I had better do something.

Ah Taffy, I'll have to get the crocs out to polish my ego, if I'm not too careful.

Stamp - stamp - stamp - doink!

boot, aaaaaaaarrrrrggghhh!!!!! That was my tail, you blithering idiot.

What we want is that large solid object up near the top, just under the halo.

"Why do we have to polish it?"

"We don't."

"So, why do we have to?"

"Its called quid pro quo. Pass me that crow bar."

Bite, stab, scratch, rip, "Get it out of my snout."

Small voice down at floor, "Right, er, gents, wotcha wanta drink?"

"Who are you?"

"Crow Mangle and that was my bar, be very careful getting the bottles out and try not to break the woodwork."

Some minutes later and the sound of liquid gurgling down a long pipe and into a large flexible cistern, errrrrrruppppppffff, "Pardon."

"Who?"

"Right lets see about getting that EGO out, I think we can use the HALO to lift it."

Some time passes, "Haul."

Bonk.

A heated but strangely silent explosion of mutual vituperation and suppressed cursing continues for some parsecs (under the Equality Act everything is equal including procreation)[not that kind of time].

"Right, push me up on top and let me see what the problem is."

Thud, boing, clonk, doiiiiiiiing.

"I think I know what the problem is, it it this HALO, it only does high altitude and it has a very low opening for getting into it."

Slither, scrape, "Ooof, my poor belly plates, right, it is very dark in here, pass me a light."

"Ah that is much better, now let me see about... Uh-oh..."

Sounds of frantic scrabbling and a head pushes through the entrance - futoomph!

After the white light with the extra bright spark and the black smoke had gone off to play in a more adventurous battleground with real nuclear particles, a voice said, "Why do we have to polish the EGO?"

From a distant corner of space a battery torch floated and drifted this way and that as it inspected a pile of bent and broken HALO and two other pieces floated - GEN and HEATER.

"What are we doing in this thread?"

"Having a look around, Oddenstein must be round here somewhere."

"what's that sound, sounds like creaking."

They pass round and through several ubends and a left and right and a top and bottom and narrowly missed Quark, until they arrived at a croweded bar, full of crows all standing around Oddenstein and using him as the bar.

"I say, old boy, can we have our crocodile back?"

The creaking sound increased dramatically and a handsome, if tatty-feathered crow elbowed his way through the flock, "He landed on my bar, he stays until I get a new wooden bar."

Two heads nod together, "Quark."

"No ducks," said the crow, "planks, trestles, couple of spitoons and a halogen heater - he blew my last one up - and hurry up, he's already drunk all the cider!"

A couple of centons later and the crows are arguing percentages with the quark and Oddenstein is released unhappily, "I was only on the third barrel of the xxxx."

I really must salvage them all and do them as a single entity as cartoons.

Returned on the 17th but have been very busy trying to sort out the everyday bits and pieces.

Nell is as well as can be expected and she is seeing the head surgeon in a couple of weeks time and she might be operated on, in the new financial year if the hospital hasn't spent all its budgets for the next decade.

Her pain levels are incredibly high and she is spending most of her time bedded down.

Brave 'little' Nell. What can one say - I see so much pain and suffering in my job - it never ceases to move me.
