Time to remember
Things ever close to your heart
How War can upset lives
Keeping loved ones apart
The Poppies are showing now
Right across the land
Reminding people once again
As in row upon row where they stand
Facing a Memorial bedecked with wreaths and Poppies
Bearing names of the lives that were lost
The victims of a world at War
How high was the human cost
When many of the casualties
Were 20 years or less
Struck down in the prime of life
No thought for worry or stress
Now side by side and shoulder to shoulder
Civilians and Servicemen too
Gathered there to pay Homage
To the fallen though many or few
For many gave their tomorrow
As I’ve heard so many folk say
Without their sacrifice long ago
We may not have enjoyed our today
The Bearers their standards have lowered now
As the Last Post the lone bugler sounds
Heads bowed in silent reverence
Many with thoughts of the Battle Grounds
Where their friends and colleagues lives were lost
Now a forceful call to “Attenshun”
And the bearers raise their standards once more
Then the military parade marches away once again
After the Remembrance of Victims of War.
