The Sassenachs have had their day
With Xmas celebrations
Celebrated all across the world
By many various Nations
But here up in the Highlands
The time we know so well
When Hogmanay is approaching
And it’s the Scotsmen who will tell
About this timely occasion
Since before old Rabbie Burns
An annual tradition
From childhood each Scot learns
There’ll be Haggis on the table
And “neeps and Tatties too
Maybe a few pints of “Light and Heavy”
Just to see the meal through
Then after there’ll be singing and dancing
And glasses of ale and wine
Chased by a wee dram of Scotch Whisky
The Party’s now going fine
Until the stroke of Midnight
The church bells will all chime
They’ll utter “ Lang mae yer lum reek”
And end by singing “Auld Lang Syne”

Dennis Shrubshall 28th December 2015

Happy New Year to all
