1914 - 1918 Poppy Fields
I lay here now and look up at the dark blue sky,
Above me my nurse and friends,
a lone plane skips across the sky
Thousands of poppies flutter down where I lie,
So to all my friends in this land we will always defend,
This land of poppy fields so red and bright, no more death,
No cold, no more screams just peace and silence
A place to now sleep for this is my end,
So brothers, sisters , friends remember us all, never forget
For so many of us gave our all to save these lands,
We gave the ultimate price by giving our lives
It is one hundred years gone by, we all say never forget.
The poppies still grow as the years go by
we will still be here all brothers and sisters
standing side by side looking at all the poppies
As they flutter down from the plane in the deep blue sky.

We cannot stop, because if a single one of these men were taken and shot, that would be our fault - Edith Cavell
